Suburb Spotlight – Brookfield

First of all, apologies to everyone who was at the edge of their seats this time last week waiting for a blog post and were well and truly let down. Life happened, long weekend and a busy week meant I did not get a chance to get my blog post up. However, here it is – a week late, yes but it’s here nonetheless. This blog focuses on the suburb of Brookfield in Tauranga in the second edition of my ‘Suburb Spotlight’ segment. The first one was Welcome Bay, if you haven’t already make sure you check it out.

Brookfield, compared to other suburbs in Tauranga is rather small at around 6,000-7,000 people. It sits comfortably between Otumoetai/Bellevue and Bethlehem and is reasonably central with easy access to Tauranga Centre and Bethlehem Shopping Centre.

Houses in the area are generally of the 1960’s and 1970’s era which is definitely not a bad thing, these era’s were generally seen as great for sturdy well built homes. According to One Roof the median house price in Brookfield is around $850,000. Which is close to the overall Tauranga median. Generally Brookfield provided better value homes than the likes of Otumoetai or Bethlehem which are seen as somewhat ‘more prestigious’ areas to reside. This makes Brookfield very appealing for a lot of home buyers.

Being tucked amongst multiple suburb gives residents of Brookfield great selection when it comes to park and walkways – in Brookfield itself you can find the Waikareao Estuary walkway which is a lovely stroll through nature. Otumoetai, right next door has Kulem Park which is a lovely evening stroll and a golf club.

Brookfield just might boast the best supermarket in Tauranga. New World Brookfield is quite the supermarket. It is widely known for having a great cafe and selection overall.

In regards to schools you have Brookfield primary in zone. Just down the road  as a secondary school option is Otumoetai College in which Brookfield is in zone for.

Overall Brookfield doesn’t quite have the prestige that Otumoetai, Matua or Bethlehem do, however I would highly recommend considering Brookfield if you are looking for a great suburb for your family, a short skip to Tauranga Central and loads of amenities.
